Fly nap

Post by sciencefan »

Hello, one of my students is trying to find out if it is allowed to experiment with Flynap at home under the supervision of an adult. Or is it something that need to be done in the lab?Flynap is a chemical used to put insects to sleep. Thank you very much.

Hi,

I'm guessing the FlyNap that one of your students is planning to use is from Carolina (the company, not the state). The MSDS can be found here: http://www.carolina.com/text/teacherres ... flynap.pdf. Based on that alone, it does not look incredibly dangerous but it does look dangerous enough to warrant use in a fumehood with gloves, so most likely this would have to be done at a lab or in a school that has a fumehood.

Hope this helps!
