Can you help me with my project

Post by deleted-51749 »

Dear Expert,

My project is about biomass, I need a bit expert information
for it. Like what peeling gives biomass more gas?
Something like that and I also need a bit more detailed
outline paper. Where can I get more useful sources or
websites. You are so awesome if you reply

SINCERELY,

STEPHEN

Stephen,

Your question has more to do with life sciences than physical sciences, so I have moved your post to the life sciences forum. Also, we do not allow students to post identifying information, so I deleted your e-mail address.

A lot of students are interested in biogas. If you do a search on the forum, I think you will find a lot of former topics on the subject. Science Buddies also has a project about biogas here: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/mentorin ... p027.shtml with a lot of great bibliographic links to get you started on your research. Please post back if you have any questions once you have read through it.

Dear Expert/ Melissa,

Thank you for the site.
I already read it, but I still have a question,
For my project, I was wondering if you have
any more sites related to this topic. Also for
my question on the board already, can I use
potato peelings. Does it have more energy?

Sincerely,

Stephen

Hey Stephen!
Potato peelings certainly can be a source of biomass and energy, as shown by the innovative technologies mentioned in this article:

http://www.businessgreen.com/business-g ... y-delivers

It is a very "new" process, so there definitely isn't any harm in trying it your experiment! Let us know what happens, and best of luck!

Dear Expert,

How does Green gas relate to Biomass?
Is it produced by Biomass?

Hey Stephen!
I've compiled a couple of websites that will help you understand what biogas is:

Note: SNG stands for synthetic natural gas
http://www.ecn.nl/fileadmin/ecn/units/b ... lained.pdf

http://www.eia.doe.gov/kids/energy.cfm? ... ome-basics

Essentially, biomass can be converted to other forms of energy such as biogas, either through burning or through other processes. Hope this helps!

Hi,
Green gas is biogas, and biogas is a type of biofuel. One of the sources from which biogas is produced from is biomass.
Here's a website for additional information:http://www.euractiv.com/en/energy/bioga ... ier-369788

Dear All Experts,

For Green Gas does it provide a helpful use for the environment and people? Or is it just a fossil natural gas?

Thank you for all your replies!

Hey again!
Here are a couple of links that might help:

http://www.euractiv.com/en/energy/bioga ... ier-369788

http://www.articlesbase.com/science-art ... 86401.html

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7862696.stm

As you can see, there are various benefits of green gas - not only does it provide an alternative to burning fossil fuels and other harmful actions to our environment, but can ultimately be tied into the notion of global warming. Using green gas as an alternative would decrease greenhouse gas emissions and thus decrease pollution, which is ultimately beneficial for people because we would be breathing cleaner, fresher air. Hope this helps!

To All Experts,

Hi again! Thank you for all your wonderful resources! They helped me a lot with the note-sheets! Now that I have my background paper in check, do you think you guys can give my just a little short detailed procedure on how to do the experiment for the Investigation Plan. I have the idea of how to do it but it isn't that detailed. So if you answer, it'll be the best!

Thank's you guys!

Hello Stephen!
So glad to hear you found some background for your paper!
I want to help you with your procedures however I am not entirely sure on what it is you're investigating. Is it which vegetable peelings will prove to be better sources of biomass? Please help me understand the problem statement.

Dear Experts,

I am using potato peelings for the source of biomass and probably mashed bananas. My problem statement is, Does the different kind of peelings on manure affect how much gas it gives off.

Hi,
Science Buddies covers this project and it includes the procedures.
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/mentorin ... p027.shtml

There is actually a very similar project that has been done by another student in the forums that I think might prove to be very useful because they cover some of the steps you are going to be taking when you are doing your procedures in detail.
Here it is:https://www.sciencebuddies.org/mentorin ... =25&t=5536 :D

Hi Stephen,

First I suggest pointing your friend to our FAQ:

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... B3/faq.php

If she's unable to find a solution there, she could email [email protected] and describe the problem, or she could create a new account.

If you do post a question for her, start a new topic for her project. However, it'll be less confusing all around if she's able to post from a different account.

Dear Experts,

For my experiment, since I can't use cow manure for biomass, my teacher suggested that I use trash instead.
Does trash, make better biomass.

Hi stephen,

Here is a source that might help (you may have already read it):

http://www.eia.doe.gov/kids/energy.cfm? ... ome-basics

I don't know if trash makes better biomass but i think it says something in that source.

Thanks :)

Dear Expert,
I am doing a science fair project where i am testing the effects of oil on marine plankton. I am having a hard time trying to find a way to measure the productivity of the plankton. Do you have any sugestions of tools i can use or ways i may be able to measure it. I am also not sure about what kind of plankton i should me using (zooplankton or phytoplankton).

Sorry again to bother you guys but I am going to county for science fair and I have to do my experiment all over again so I decided to change it a little. I have a question though, on all of the sights for biogas experiments, I see that people are using soil and vegetables peelings with grass clippings so may I ask since soil has microbes and when the microbes are combines with food they produce methane according to my research. Then if I need a control would the soil by itself with just microbes produce methane or would it not because the lack of food which it needs in order for it to process.

Thanks I know you guys are trying hard to help other students to.
