Height and Weight of a kindergardener
What is the height and weight of the average Kindergartener? Will the weight help to determine the height of the Kindergartener. Please help me with part of my project as it is due soon.

Re: Height and Weight of a kindergardener
Hi,
Here is a chart of weight and height versus age for boys ( see links at the bottom for girls):
http://www.keepkidshealthy.com/growthch ... ystwo.html
Note the weight scale is in kilograms and heights are in centimeters. To convert to pounds multiply the weight in kilograms by 2.2. To convert height in centimeters to inches, divide the centimeter height by 2.54 to get inches.
If you have trouble understanding the chart, look at this link:

I hope this answers your question. Good luck with your project.

Re: Height and Weight of a kindergardener
Does the weight of a kindergartner affect the height? I looked at the graph, but it was of no help to me. I cannot find any information that will help me get a bibliography of this information. Can you help more on this please? Thank you.

Hi,
The source of data on children growth curves is
National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS)
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, DHHS
Division of Data Services, 3311 Toledo Road
Hyattsville, MD 20782
Tel: 301-458-4636 1-866-441-NCHS (6247).
EMail: [email protected]
http://www.cdc.gov/nchs
This is cited in micro type at the bottom of the height and weight vs. age plot of the link in the first answer you were given. I agree the data do not show the weight of a specific child of a certain age and height, as this is highly variable from child to child. You can however get the average weight and height of a specific age child, and you can use the BMI (Body Mass Index) to guage approximately how healthy the weight for a specific height is. Questions about a specific child should be referred to a pediatrician who knows the child.
The 50 percentile height of a 5 year old boy is about 43 inches and the 50 percentile weight is about 44 pounds. Information on BMI is here:
