Why the slide made with iodine solution as the mountant can only be a temporary one?

Hi,

Here is some basic information on staining microscope slides, including iodine staining:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staining

Your question does not provide enough information to give a very good answer. What is the sample you are staining, and what are you trying to see on the slide? What experiment are you trying to perform?

If you provide more detail on what you are doing we may be able to give you a better answer. Alternatively, why not ask your teacher, who knows what you are trying to do?
