What pathogens are commonly found in water?
I am in the process of developing a water filter for people in developing countries and I am curious as to what pathogens I should be testing for, both prior to filtration and after filtration. I am planning to test for fecal coliform, but are there any other pathogens that are commonly found in water? What are they? And how does one test for them?

Re: What pathogens are commonly found in water?
Hi,
I think you will find this Science Buddies Project writeup helpful. It lists a number of common water born pathogens and describes a method to test for them:

Remember to check the regulations of your science fair to see if your experiment must be cleared by your Science Fair Scientific Review Committee. See the following links:

Good luck with the project!
