How do materials affect rate of cooling?

Post by AustiCat »

At this point, the plan is that I will be using 5 containers of different materials (glass, metal, plastic, paper, styrofoam), refrigerating them all with 2 cups of water, and taking the temperature of the water every 5 minutes for one hour.

I would like some help with keywords. So far, I have:
  • Metal
  • Glass
  • Styrofoam
  • Plastic
  • Paper
  • Refrigeration
  • Insulation
  • Temperature
  • Conductor
  • Heat
  • Energy

The things I would like to know are:
  • Are these keywords correct?
  • What other keywords can you think of?
  • Are there any sites that you know that I can search for more keywords?

Please help. :?

I think your list of keywords is mostly complete. I would now go ahead and think about how to conduct your experiment. If you missed any keywords you will realize it at that point.

Hi Austicat.

This list is a great start. I found a great thread from a couple of years ago that might help you determine whether you can narrow down your list of key words are require others. It also gives some good pointers on things you should think about when setting up your experiment.

Good luck, and certainly write back if you have further questions!
