Hi Jimmy,

there are quite a few quick-and-simple introductions on the web, for example this one: http://www.school-for-champions.com/science/static.htm
and this one http://www.loc.gov/rr/scitech/mysteries/static.html but you have probably
advanced beyond that level already.
Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Static_electricity) is a good starting point for a more detailed study. As usual with Wikipedia, it is a good idea to also
check out the references provided with the article, if accessible.
