Re: Muffin Density
Are you working on "The Fluffiest Muffins: Flour Type and Muffin Density" from the science buddies website?
If you are you might want to check out the link posted in the bibliography on the project's page: http://www.usc.edu/CSSF/History/2005/Projects/J1122.pdf
It is an overview of a similar project that was conducted by a student in California, it might help you while you plan your project.
You might also want to brush up on the concept of density, here is a great link: http://www.edinformatics.com/math_science/density.htm
In addition, you might want to think of how you are going to measure the volume (which is necessary to find the density) of the muffins that you will be testing. Because it is an irregular shape, you will probably have to submerge it in water and measure the change in the water level. However, the muffins are likely to absorb some water, which will cause an error in your measurement. Perhaps you could wrap the muffin in seran wrap (very tightly) before you submerge it to reduce error related to water absorption.
Hopefully this helps, Good luck with your project!
