I'm doing the experiment on this website "Do Different Dilutions of Disinfectants Affect the Development of Bacteria Resistance?"
It's been a day since i performed the experiment and I don't see any results on the petri dishes, besides white stuff. I swabbed a door knob of my home. I also used tap water by accident.
When do you think the bacteria will grow?

Hi,
Is this the project you are doing? This is a really good one.

What temperature are you using to incubate your plates? It may take 2-3 days if the temperature is below 35 degrees Centigrade. If you don't have a nice lawn of bacteria by Tuesday, then there may be a problem with your bacteria or with the medium. Please post the details of your experimental set-up if no growth appears on the plates.

Re: Microbiology
I'm not quite sure about the temperature. I placed it in a shoe box on top of a heater by recommendation of my science teacher. So far, I have one pink dot on the outer rim of one petri dish.

Hi,
A pink dot sounds promising. I think you will have more colonies tomorrow. Your teacher's recommendation to put the plates in a warm plate was a good one. It would be excellent if you could find a thermometer and measure the temperature just to make sure it is close to the optimum temperature for growing bacteria.
