- Project Question: my project is about fingerprints with heredity and genetics involved, so my category should be genetics. but my teacher says "genetics" is not one of the categories for science fair. so my question is what is my category for family members inheriting the same fingerprint?

category for fingerprints hereditary?
hi, i have finished my experiment, and about to get a board, before i can get it, i must find out which category is for fingerprints and hereditary. my purpose was: does hereditary have to do with determining the type of fingerprint you will get (whorl, loop, or arch). my teachers say it's genetics but it is not one of the categories for science fair. so im pretty doomed

Hi Alan, can you provide us with all the avaiable categories, so we can help you decide which category would best fit this project?

Is there a category for biology or specifically zoology? Zoology is the study of animals. Humans are animals (specifically mammals).

Hello!
Usually when you sign up for a science fair they provide you with a form that lists the different categories that you are allowed to enter science projects under. These are usually used to pair you up with judges that are knowledgeable in your research area, so try and be as specific as possible. That being said, if you are not able to find an exact match that is not a problem. Sometimes science projects just don't fall neatly into one category.
Hope this helps,
Nithin T.

Re: category for fingerprints hereditary?
Hello,
Do you have a complete index of all the categories you may choose from? This is so that I won't accidentally tell you a category name that isn't even accepted by your teacher.
