I need help on coming up with a title - reaction time

Post by ElPaso123 »

In my science project I am measuring the reaction time of people before an after playing a video game. My project is due on Friday.

Hi,
I am not sure what your hypothesis or results turned out to be, but perhaps you could have a fun title along the lines of:
Is Gaming Slowing You Down?
Or, you could have a more scientifically-driven title like:
The Effect of Video Games on Reaction Time
Hope this helps!

Thank you for your quick response! I like the catchy title - thank you.

I also need some help coming up with some real life application (5th grade level project).

The purpose of the project was to find out the affects of video games on a person's reaction time, making them faster or slower.
My hypothesis was that Video games improve reaction times.
I used 10 subjects and had them do a test (building a pyramind with cups) and I timed them. Then they played a video game of their choice for 10 minutes and then did the reaction test (stacking cups) again - and timed it.
The results - 9/10 subjects showed an increase in reaction time. So my hypothesis was correct.

Hi,
I'm glad you liked it! In terms of applications, I would encourage to take a look at one of ScienceBuddies' own projects:

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p025.shtml

After reading through some of the literature that is listed on that page, you might realize that perhaps your results can be applied to the study of whether or not you can heal people with movement diseases by using video games as a therapy! There are definitely lots of applications, and that's just one that *might* work, but it certainly is very far-fetched from what your project is now. But it is always nice to keep in mind the potential areas that your project results may affect, so be creative with it! Good luck!

Real life applications for video game reactions can focus on a lot of different subjects. Like the administrator recommended you can explore the medical applications of video game playing as therapies. You can also explore the use of video games as a teaching or learning tool. For example, can video games be used to teach employees how to operate a cash register or how to operate a piece of equipment. If you are interested in the field of medicine, then you can also look at how video games can be used to manipulate brain activity. For example, can video games be designed to stimulate the brain in a way that helps to prevent Alzheimer's Disease.

Hope these ideas help.

Hello,

For an application, how about looking at professions where having a quick reaction time is very important. Surgeons and professional athletes are some examples, I'm sure that you can think of many more.

Hope this helps,
