Welcome to the ask the experts forum. You can answer a lot of your own questions by doing some research/reading first.

Have you done any research/reading on "Why does popcorn pop?". I put that question into a search engine and even found an entry from NASA's for kids science area: http://www.nasa.gov/audience/forkids/home/popcorn.html.

Try doing some of your own searching to answer your other questions. You should be able to find the smoke point, the content of saturated fat, monosaturated fat, and polyunsaturated fat of the oils you are asking about. Additionally, you should be able to find a whole list of the organic an inorganic chemicals that occur in these oils.

Hi!

You could also check out some of the medicinal uses for some of these oils for background as well. Also, try some really unusual oils for popping corn and see how well they work. Most natural food stores will stock safflower, avocado, and other oils. Here is a link to a great recipe for coconut oil popcorn. Be sure to ask your parents to supervise. http://www.thecurvycarrot.com/2011/07/1 ... l-popcorn/
