An independent variable is one that you control. In this experiment it might be the length of time you have run the current through the solutions: call it "t".

A dependent variable is one that depends on the independent variable. For example, what is the pH after a time, t? The pH depends on t.

A table of your results will have at least two columns. One is t and the other is pH.
