Hi,
I am trying to use the www.snps3d.org site referred to in the experiment: Bioinformatics - The Perfect Marriage of Computer Science & Medicine.
No 3d model seems to be available when I enter ...
Gene: NOD2 (and SNP: L81V) or
Gene: LTA (and SNP: C13R)
Am I doing anything wrong ?
Thanks !
Ilana

Re: Bioinformatics - SNPS3D
Hello iberger,
I also am unable to reproduce the web pages shown in the project description, https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p008.shtml.
The project was written up in 2008, and as is often the case, the web site has changed since then.
I suggest that you use the "Contact" option on the SNPS3D web site to send them a question about how you may be able to proceed. Be sure to give them exactly what you are after and what options on what web pages you selected before hitting a barrier.
Please also note that structure is not known for many proteins. It takes a lot of effort to get each structure, so researchers tend to go after the ones that have the greatest interest. Since NOD2 is involved in a disease of great interest, maybe it is known. A quick search says that at least some structural information is known.
Sorry I can't offer more help. Let me know if you make progress.
Good luck, WW
