I am doing research that involves the evolution of bacteria:
Are bacteria still evolving on a large scale? In their fundamental structure, chemistry, etc.?
How do proteins function in bacteria resistance to antibiotics? How can this relationship yield relatively unexplored questions that can be used to conduct a practical experiment?

Re: Relationship between proteins and bacteria
Hi!
I would suggest doing some reading on the evolution of bacteria and resistance to antibiotics. You can use google or google scholar. Here is an interesting article http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn1 ... e-lab.html about the evolution of bacteria.
This article maybe a good introductory on resistance to antibiotics: http://health.howstuffworks.com/human-b ... ion561.htm.
I think after reading some of the background, you will get a better idea of some experiments.
Here area also some ideas from the sciencebuddies project ideas that you may find interesting:

Here is also a link to microbiology projects. https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... a=MicroBio
Good Luck! I hope this helps!
