Where can you purchase agar? I've been having difficulties getting it. I phoned the university and they said that I couldn't get access. If I cannot get it, is there a way to make it or do I have to restart the experiment from scratch?

Thx, Simone7

Hi Simone7,

Here is a link to the scibuddies page on agar, https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... Agar.shtml

They list a copule places that you can order the agar from. Some of the suppliers will not sell directly to individuals, but will sell to your school. You can ask your teacher to help you purchase agar through your school. I have purchased things through Carolina Biologicals before. They would be a good place to start.

Also do you have a place to sterilize your agar? If not you may want to buy pre-made plates. These will come already sterilized and poured into petri dishes.

Good Luck,
KIerstyn

Hi Simone7,

Kierstyn has already given you some great advice. If you choose to go with pre-poured plates, http://www.lab-express.com/ will sell you pre-poured agar plates.

Hope that helps!
