Why does exercising(running) for ten minutes help your memory rather than watching TV for ten minutes????? Thank you.

Re: Memory
Hi JSperanza,
That is a very interesting question! Scientists are currently doing research on this, and have come up with 2 major theories:
1.) Exercising increases the flow of oxygen to the brain, and this allows more brain cells to be formed.
2.) Exercising causes the brain to release certain biochemicals, such as serotonin, that make us feel happier; and when we feel happier, we can think more clearly.
Here is a good website for more information: http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/neuro/n ... rroth.html
If you are planning to create a project with this question, check out this page: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p011.shtml In the Bibliography section, there are some more sites you can look at.
I hope that helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
