All Natural Project

Post by Selene »

Hey,

So, I've been trying to figure this out for days.
My project question is, "Is Whole Foods deceiving us with their 'All Natural' labels?"
And I was going over the procedure in my head when I noticed that I couldn't figure out the independent or dependent variables.
The best idea I could come up with is for the independent: the foods that I am testing, and for the dependent: the ingredients.
Could someone help me figure them out?

Thanks,

P.S. I'm not sure if this fits into the Life, Earth or Social Sciences I truly didn't know where to put it...

In my opinion, the "naturalness" of the food is dependent on the ingredients, processes and growing environment . Therefore, the independent variables are the ingredients, processes and growing environment and the dependent variable is the food. Take for example meat. There are are 5 categories for the "naturalness" of the meat. These categories consist of such things as grazing conditions, type of feed, hormones given to the cattle or lack thereof, etc. Check out your local Whole foods for the exact definitions of each. I hope this helps.

Thanks!
Yeah, I was probably over thinking it because it seems simpler now. I was planning on visiting them or calling them soon to get their input on what exactly "natural" means.
