Goldish? Hearing? Music?
Hey me and my partner have an interesting idea in mind. We want to use somewhat of a mozart effect idea on goldfish, letting them listen to excerpts from different types of music and testing the musics effects on a fish's run through a maze. We would like to know how we can further research topics such as goldfish memory, the anatomy of a goldfish, how a godfish thinks, hears, etc. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks

Goldfish experiment
Hi NYJfootball,
This is an interesting idea, however, before you proceed, you should know that you will have to get permission to do an experiment with vertebrate animals, including fish. Have you discussed this project with your teacher? Because of the limited time left before your project is due, you might consider switching to Planaria, earthworms, cockroaches or other invertebrate instead.
What is the purpose of your project? Is there a reason to think that music would affect the performance of an animal in a maze? Also, how are your going to measure your results? Ideally, in an experiment like this, you will be able to measure your results.
One other thing to consider. I have judged several science fair projects, which tested the effect of music on plants, animals, or humans, and there were typically no measurable results. So, I don't think that testing the effect of music on anything makes a really good science project.
I do want to help you select a really good project, so is there any other science topic you are really interested in?
