Hey Becky,

The variables depend on what you are measuring and what you are looking for. Variables are what changes.

There are three types of variables.
1.) independant- this is what you change.
2.) dependant- this is what effect the independant variable made on the thing your measuring.
3.) control- these are what you keep the same and do not change.

Hope this helps. If you need any more help please let me know. Here is a great site that talks about it too http://www.sciencebuddies.com/mentoring ... bles.shtml

Hi Becky,

Hair strength may be affected by many different variables examples include:
1. source - human, animal, etc.
2. age of the hair
3. is the hair from a male or female?
4. color
5. moisture
6. treatments - using various chemicals, shampoos and conditioners

How are you planning to measure hair strength? Are you going to measure the amount of weight or pressure needed to break or damage hair? How many pieces of hair will you use per trial?

Just a few things to think about. I hope this helps.
