Hi Susan,
What sort of assignment are you doing? This forum is usually to assist with grade school science fair projects, though we are often willing to help out with the occasional odd question.

As a starting point for general questions like yours, a web search engine is usually the best approach. Try typing "synthetic flooring" into Google or whichever search engine you prefer.
