Understanding the equation in the attached document requires a considerable amount of higher math to even be able to read the equation and do the calculation. In other words, all of the required math, physics, and chemistry courses to obtain a Chemical Engineering degree and then some. Understanding the derivation of the equation is even more challenging and requires a working knowledge of higher math and the associated jargon.

Taken out of context, we aren't going to be able to help you. The whole reason why people cite references in papers is so that others have a clue as to the background reading that one has to do in order to understand things. For people outside the field, this often ends up in a recursive process that is very frustrating unless you get lucky enough that somebody cites something that ends up being easy to understand.

You failed to give us a citation as a starting point!
