The effect of global warming on an ecosystem.

Post by Abanoub12 »

Hi, am doing a science fair project on The effect of global warming on an ecosystem but am not sure if it will work. This is my idea of the set uphttp://img69.imageshack.us/img69/7900/b71m.png

Thank you

Hi,

Please repost with more specific information. Why do you expect that it won't work? Did you try it? Is there some part that bothers you? Did you search for information about the processes involved in order to answer your question?

Send a more detailed question and we will try to help.

Hi Abanoub12,

You have a very interesting idea! It is difficult to account for all of the effects of global warming, but thinking about melting polar ice and increased temperature is a start.

If you want to do the sort of project you have proposed, then you need to design a microcosm, which will represent your ecosystem. This is much more easily said than done, as you can see with your uncertainty regarding which plants and animals to include. I suggest doing something simple like a freshwater ecosystem, but you will have to research the best plants and animals to include. Here are some suggestions for making terraria: http://www.stormthecastle.com/terrarium/index.htm

You can also focus on one or two of the effects you know will happen. For example, this project looks at what happens when sea ice melts: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p015.shtml. This project looks at the effects of ocean acidification on shelled organisms: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p013.shtml. Perhaps you can find a way to combine projects to say something about their potential interaction.

Please post again (in this same thread) if you have more questions.
