Plastic wrap

Post by 3jperrys »

Hi, I am a 7th grader and I have a few questions for my science project.

I was wondering if some people knew the answers to these questions?

What is the main ingredient in GLAD plastic wrap?
What is the main ingredient in storit clear wrap at the dollar store?
What is the ingredient inside plastic wrap that keeps an apple from oxidation?

Thank you for your help.      :D :D :D :D

Hi,

Would I be correct in assuming that your trying to test different plastic wraps to see which prevents oxidation the best? Seems like a cool idea.

A quick look on Wiki will reveal the history of the materials of plastic wraps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastic_wrap

I can't say that I know the primary ingredients in the two brands you mentioned -- in fact I suspect the primary ingredient may even be the same! The best way to figure this out would likely be a google search, or looking at the packaging to see if it lists anything about the materials inside.

Have you taken a look at: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p033.shtml ? I believe it lists the primary ingredients of some common plastic wraps.

Best of luck! Let us know if you have any further questions.
