Re: Acne
Hi,
Is this the topic for your research project? If yes, what exactly is your question?
Specifics would greatly help me answer better, as right now I'm not really sure where in your research you're having difficulty.
Thanks!

Hi gilberto98,
You have a cool idea! One thing to keep in mind is that E. coli is a laboratory strain of bacteria (and very easy to work with), but the type of bacteria that cause acne are called P. acne. It is perfectly okay - and probably a good idea - to use E. coli for your project. Just make sure to acknowledge this difference when presenting the results of your project.
Here are some resources to help you get started with how to culture bacteria: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ques.shtml
This project will help you with how to design your experiment: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p014.shtml You can use the different types of acne medication as the different growth inhibitors.
I hope that helps. Please post again (in this same thread) if you have more questions.

Re: Acne
Hi!
Along with the great advice Heather gave you, I'd personally begin by researching basic concepts about bacterial proliferation as well as learning some lab techniques on how to work with and obtain agar, etc. Have you chosen the medications you want to test yet? If not, try finding a wide spectrum of choices - the most effective known on the market today all the way down to the least effective. Thinking about a positive and negative control would be good as well.
