Substitube for Bushnell Hass Broth

Post by deleted-117299 »

Hi

For my science fair project, I intended to test the degradation of plastic in soil. I know that soil contain various bacteria and some of those bacteria is able to break down plastic. Apparently,i need the Bushnell Hass Broth which is composed of Magnesium Sulfate, Calcium Chloride, Monopotassium Phosphate, Dipotassium Phosphate, Ammonium Nitrate, and Ferric Chloride to help incite bacteria growth in soil. I search up the price for the Broth and it cost about like $170 for a bottle. Therefore, I would like to know if there are any other substitute that is cheaper ( around 20 to 30 preferably) or is there any online recipe to make this broth?

Thank you very much

You might find it useful to look at this Science Buddies project on decomposition and testing compostable and biodegradable objects:
