Project Question: does fungi produce glucose after breaking down the cellulose?
What kind of substance or bacteria produce glucose by breaking down the cellulose? (they should not burn the glucose themselves)

Biofuels

Hi,
I was going to test which crops is the most efficient one to get biofuels from, but I discussed it with my teacher and we thought that it would be better if we get them from wastes. So my question is does fruits' peels or seeds have glucose? I heard that used papers have glucose. Does other used materials have glucose? And is there a way to create and control heat without (I know electricity but if there are other ways)?

Hi chan111298,

You have a very interesting project idea! Let's tackle each of your questions.

Glucose is a carbohydrate (sugar molecule), and can be present in different materials.
This project describes how to measure sugar content in bananas: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p063.shtml
This one measures glucose in fruit juices: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p049.shtml
You could use these to design your own experiment to detect which substances contain glucose.

I'm not sure I understand your other question...

Can you rephrase that?
