Making Sugar Out of Aratiles fruit (Muntiggia Calabura Linn)

Post by Richard_22 »

Greetings to Everyone! :D
I'm thinking that a sweet fruit can be a good substitute for sugar 'cause it is rich in vitamins and other nutritious stuffs.
So I choose aratiles fruit cause it is sweet at same time it is also an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agent, but the problem is that I have no idea how sugar can be created so, I would like to ask help from you guys on how to create sugar using Aratiles fruit... thanks :) (URGENT!!)

Hi Richard_22,

Sugars occur naturally in plants and animals. Plants naturally produce sucrose, and then people extract and concentrate that sugar. Sucrose, the kind of sugar we usually use for cooking, etc., is usually produced from sugar beets or sugar cane. I suggest researching how table sugar is processed (I've included a link or two to get you started), and then planning how you can adapt that process to a small-scale science fair project. Remember that for a science fair project, you need to have a question and hypothesis. So, you'll want to brainstorm what independent variable you can change (perhaps temperature, for example) and how you can measure the response to that change. Once you've done background research and developed a draft procedure, post back with it and we can go from there.

All the best,
