Please Help with Sociology project !!!
Hi !! It would be great if someone could help me with my science fair project . I am doing my project on Sociology- "Testing How Fashion Impacts the Behavior of Others Around Us" and I have a few problems following all the specific requirements, due to my supplies. I do not own a video camera or know of anyone who does, and I was needing a few ideas. I was thinking I would still perform the experiment (as stated, but with no video camera, so me and my partner would be taking notes on specific behavior and recording data .), and take pictures of me and my partner in the different outfits, and organize with graphs by our results . Does anyone have any ideas that may help me ? If I could get some help, that would be great !!
Thanks !!

Thats a shame that you can't get hold of a video recorder but i think you will be able to manage without it if you are well prepared. It might even be a positive thing that you can show the judges how resourceful you are!
I think it would be a good idea to have a prepared format for your notes.
Pick a set of specific behaviours and note the presence or absence of them or have a scale to rate them. Try not to choose too many for the observer to be able to note during the experiment - maybe aim for 10 but you might need to cut back if that turns out to be too many. Prepare your forms in advance and print out a bunch of copies so the observer has minimal writing to do and can concentrate on observing. One of the previous posts to your earlier questions had some good measures.
There is one big downside to doing the experiment this way instead of with the video taping - can you think of what it is ?(hint - reread the posts on your previous question about bias). Make sure you talk about that in your discussion/conclusions.
best of luck,
caroline

Hi ShadowKitten,
I am also sorry that you do not have a video camera. However, many digital cameras have a movie function. Do you have a digital camera? If so, it would be a great idea to take advantage of that function and record what you need. There are some limitations to using a digital camera with a movie function. I hope it will work!
Sincerely,
Sareena
