- Project Question: I am doing a science project of the development of a chicken inside the egg. I am breaking open and preserving the chicken every 3-5 days of development. What should my question be for my scientific method step? I am researching the development, anatomy of the eggs, temp and humidity required for incubator, candling, and even hatching some eggs in the end. I just don't know how to approach my scientific method steps with this. I have already started this project and I am on day 5.

- Project Status: I am conducting my experiment

Re: development stages of chicken in eggs
Hi Reece,
I’m a little confused about what independent variables you are testing on chick embryo development. Are you holding eggs at various temperatures and then comparing the degree of development? What is your hypothesis? That below a certain temperature or above a certain temperature a chick will never hatch? Are you also incubating some under low humidity and some under high humidity? How are you controlling and measuring humidity?
What is your dependent variable--the weight of the embryo or some measurement of its size?
You can’t apply the scientific method until you have stated your hypothesis and defined your independent and dependent variables. Did you have a specific project in mind or a question you felt that needed to be answered about embryonic development? We can help you with the science, but we do need more information about your ideas and plans.
