Experiment Help

Post by DavHil »

This is regarding the project "Turn Mud into Energy with a Microbial Fuel Cell — and a Dash of Salt"

I ordered the kit involved with this experiment a month or so back and recently received shocking news. They were unable to send the kit over. I've done a lot of research and was wanting to finish, despite not having the kit. I heard about Ask An Expert, and now looking for help.

I found with my research that salt would boost the power output of the MFC, but was wondering if an expert would be able to share results, including graph data and other qualitative/quantitative observations. Results for many tests, such as salt mixture, normal, and controlled variable if possible.

Thank you.

I am really sorry you were unable to receive the kit you ordered. Where did you order from?

If you have time still to do your actual experiment, the kit is available in the Science Buddies Store (and has been): https://store.sciencebuddies.org/Elec_p ... e-Kit.aspx

I am sorry, but our Experts can't post data or results from experiments. To complete a project of this sort, it is necessary to do your own hands-on experiment.

I ordered the kit directly from the science buddies store, and they replied that they were unable to ship it.

Is there any links or sites where I could receive results. Time is running short, so I don't have much time to do the experiment.

I work with the Science Buddies Store, and I would like to check on your order. If you can please contact us at [email protected] and send the name under which the order was placed, that would be helpful. The kits have been available and in stock for some time.

I apologize, but we do not provide data, answers, or links to data that you can use.

Experts in the forum are happy to assist with the interpretation of data you may gather with your own experiment, but they do not supply results.

Okay, I will just reorder it.

How do I graph the results, chart, qualitative, quantitate, graphs and titles?

After you complete your testing, you will have data that can be analyzed. The "Analyzing Results" section of the procedure offers information about how to graph your data:

Please keep in mind that this is a long-term project and takes a number of days to complete.

You will want to read carefully through the steps of the procedure. You will first do recordings for a period of approximately 10-12 days (yours might end up longer). Then you make a change in your setup and begin your recording again. If you carefully look through the procedure, it is described step by step what you need to do, what to record, and when you make a change (add salt).
