Can Methyl Cellulose be used to slow down daphnia?

Can Methyl Cellulose be used to slow down daphnia? Someone suggested Protoslo, but I have access to Methyl Cellulose already so it would be easier. All help is appreciated. Here's a link to the discussion regarding the protoslo if it's necessary. Thanks.
