Cost of Neon Gas

Post by deleted-172172 »

Can you point me in the right direction to find out the cost of Neon gas per gram. Also, curious to know if that cost is for pure neon vs. I understand that neon gas in a sign often has other gasses in it.

I seem to be finding some discrepancies. This is for an Element project.

Thank you.

karipley - The price for pure neon seems to fluctuate, and the suppliers sites, like Praxair or Airgas, give you a number to call for current price. The smallest amount they provide seems to be 25 liters in an appropriate high pressure tank. One site suggested a 100 liter quantity at $120. If you need a small tank and regulator, add another $100-$150. Call your local welding supply store or industrial gas distributor. If you only need a cubic foot or so, perhaps they will put it in a plastic bag for you at ambient pressure. Hope this helps. Here are a few links.
