Malic Acid Electrolysis (Energy From Apple Juice)

Post by Gloken »

For my experiment I am going to attempt electrolysis with Apple juice to see if I can produce energy efficiently. I would like to do it on paper first to show what will happen during each reaction at the Electrodes. Although I am not sure how to Balance the equations correctly because I am not sure what each reaction will yield. Please help.

Hello,

This sounds like an interesting topic! I just have some questions though. What would the malic acid be split into? How much malic acid is in the apple juice concentration you have? Do you plan to combine the split products to form malic acid again because that's the only way for energy to be produced from the apple juice? Give me more details on your experiment and I'll try to help you as much as I can.
