Wind Turbine Science Fair Project

Post by deleted-252193 »

Hi guys,
So I'm doing a project on what I'm thinking is environmental science. I plan to build a mini wind turbine and test it at different speeds to see which speed is the most effective on producing enough energy on starting something (I'm thinking a small blender?). So my question is this: I have to turn in a proposal tonight and I need to enter the independent/dependent/control variables and the control/experimental group and I was wondering what that would be in my case. Also if any of you are professionals in environmental science and would be interested in being my mentor for my project, please let me know. Thanks!
Please answer ASAP ,

Hello xrmendoza18,
Welcome to Science Buddies,
There is a great need for renewable sources of energy and many people think that wind power has great potential.

To help you get started on your project proposal, I suggest that you browse some of the project ideas in Science Buddies.

Here is one project idea.
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ml#summary

If you look at the procedures section, you will get ideas for what measurements (the dependent variable) are recorded for each of the different experimental conditions, which are different rotor designs (the independent variable) in this example.

For a more general discussion of independent and dependent variables, check out this section in the Science Buddies Project Guide:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... bles.shtml

Perhaps some of my fellow experts will jump in with ideas to help you find a mentor!
