Microbial Fuel Cell

What types are soils can I use for an MFC? Does it always have to benthic mud, can I use garden soil, compost that I buy from store?

Can we find anaerobic bacteria in these samples? Does it have to be anaerobic bacteria only for MFC?

Hello,
You can use regular store-bought soil for your MFC. MFCs that do not use a membrane can deploy anaerobic bacteria in aerobic environments.
I hope this helps,
