Need suggestions for making of 3D Projector

Post by ishanmitra »

Hello. I have been working on a project regarding 3D projection (projecting True 3D image). So far I have written down all notes that I know on the GSF page. However, I cant think of a working model. So far I saw a website where Japanese technologists have developed this 3D Aerial Display (in 2011). Although, futuristic, the theory is quite simple... it uses high energy IR pulsed laser (so the naked eyed wont see the laser rays, of course) and it focuses on a point of air molecules, causing ionisation, creating a dot-like source of light. They make many of these to make a 3D array of objects.

My aim is to minimise their device. Of course, I had a hypothesis of my own (superposition of light waves in a tube filled with smoke), but I dont think light waves will ever work. Also, their disadvantage is that, as it creates air ionisation, it isnt environmentally friendly. Also, its not safe for humans (so interactivity is limited). I had my next hypothesis to use laser discharge of smaller power to discharge gas in a tube. The gas would get excited giving off spectrum only at that point (not the entire tube like a gas discharge tube).

I also had the idea that as gas gives off different colours under different conditions, it might be possible to make a coloured 3D projector (unlike their only white projector). Unfortunately, I am yet unable to seek help from a nearby expert, so I am residing to some advices here. (So, I require constant interaction!)

Although the time for the GSF deadline is quite less, (May 18), I hope that my prototype will be finished and according to what I wish for. Waiting for quick replies! :)

Anyone who can lead me to the right path? Need suggestions as soon as possible. Also wish to discuss some of my plans on how to cut prototype costs and stuffs as well... Thanks in advance
