How to make an inexpensive custom sound player

Post by pripree »

Hi,

As part of a science project I am in need of making a custom sound player where I would like to record a few short clips and at the press of a button play each clip. I was not sure of the cheapest method to make one like this. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

One method would be to pick up a recordable greeting card at the store and remove the electronics. Hallmark used to have a bunch of these.

You could also use a recordable message module such as:

This page had one that's not available any longer, but at the bottom of the page are some that sound like they might fill the bill:

Try "sound recording module" in a search engine and you'll probably find more. Another alternative might be to record the soubds as .WAV files and write a quick program in Python where you hit a key on the keyboard to play a sound. I think you actually have a bunch of options here. Good luck with your project!

pripree - eBay always has several, some less than $2. I've purchased several, including microphone and speaker and they work quite well.
