My experiment is going to test how much glucose is in different types of fruits. The project says to use tap water because it contains no glucose in it and it is the control. But my teacher says to use distilled water for experiments because it's cleaner. Can I use distilled water instead??

Yes. Distilled water is fine. The project as written is trying to make the materials list simpler. Tap water should not contain glucose but I suppose you can't know for sure what's in it. Distilled water is guaranteed not to have any.
I'll make a note to have the project materials list clarified. Thank you for pointing that out.

@aascience,
by all means use distilled water... so that no impurities of the tap water hinder with the conclusions you make.
hope this helps,
Arun
