What's in a Face? Are Composite Faces More Attractive than Real Faces?

How come people react differently to composite faces in this project? What's a chi-squared test? I was thinking of doing this project for fun (since I need metric measurement for my science fair project). Can you help? Thank you.

Michaela, it has to do with symmetry in faces. There's a ton written about it on the web and you'll find just oodles of links if you search for it. Try searching for "why do people react differently to composite faces?" or "Facial attractiveness" and see what you find out. It's pretty cool stuff.

There's also a ton of sites that explain Pearson chi-square statistical test. Wikipedia has a complete (although possibly confusing explanation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chi-squared_test) and this YouTube video (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chi-squared_test) does a decent job of explaining it.

The graphics you'll end up making as part of a study on face symmetry should be great material for a science fair presentation if you decide to present it.

Thank you, HowardE. We are the same person. (6:24 AM)

P.S.: I'm using it for fun because my teachers wanted metric measurements for my projects, so I'm doing cellphone reaction time! LUOA....
