Hi Tinaj24,
Can you please provide some additional details about the project you are working on? For example, how are you using silk ties in this project? The more details you can provide us about the hypothesis you are testing and the procedure you are using, the better we will be able to help you. Please post back with those details so that we can help you more effectively.
In the meantime, check out this article about how to identify variables in your science fair project: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... bles.shtml.

Hi Tinaj24,
I responded to your question on the other topic thread that you started. In the future, please keep all of your questions about a single project on a single topic thread. It will help us help you more effectively.

Re: privacy
The science fair project is dying eggs using silk ties in vinegar I will test 3 eggs in one cup of vinegar and the other 3 eggs in 1/2 cup of vinegar i predict that the eggs color will be better when dying the eggs in the ones in the one cup of vinegar I'm tryin to determine my variables

Re: privacy
Hi Tinaj24,
Are you using the silk ties as a the source of dye for your project? Or are the dyes coming from a different source?
The independent variable is the thing that you are changing. In your reply, you mentioned that you had two different groups of eggs - what was different about those two groups? That is your independent variable.
The dependent variable is the thing that changes in response to the variations in the independent variable. You make a prediction in your reply. The prediction you made explains what you think with happen to the eggs when you use different amounts of vinegar. The thing that you predict will be different is the dependent variable.
Controlled variables are things that you keep the same in all of your tests. This might include the temperature of the eggs (room temperature vs. fridge), type of vinegar used (e.g., white vs. apple cider), and kind of egg (e.g., chicken vs. duck). What other things are you keeping the same in all of your tests?

Hi Tinaj24,
Thank you for clarifying. If you are still confused about your variables, then post back with what you think your independent, dependent, and controlled variables are, and I'll check them for you.
Good luck!

Re: privacy
I think my indecent variable is the amount of vinegar I use and the silk ties should be my controlled variable

Hi Tinaj24,
You're on the right track! The amount of vinegar is the independent variable you are testing. The silk ties are one of the controlled variables. Did you figure out what your dependent variable is?

Re: privacy
The color the egg change is the dependent variable? Another one of the controlled variable is the amount of water I use
