my dinosaur extinction theory

Post by deleted-312304 »

Hey so i watch a documentary and they said something about a hyper nova and if it hits earth it will take away most of its atmosphere so what if the reason dinosaurs went extinct was because of a hyper nova what if one hit earth and it took away the amount of atmosphere a dinosaur needed to survive i call this "mackey theory"

That is certainly a feasible theory. In fact, the possibility of a hypernova-induced extinction event has been researched extensively by scientists. Though a hypernova generally isn't believed to be the cause of the dinosaur extinction, it is hypothesized to have brought about another mass extinction called the Ordovician–Silurian extinction event, which took place before the time of the dinosaurs.

You guys are talking about a gamma ray bursts right? Because if a hyper nova hit earth it would've completely annihilated earth. Gamma ray bursts are caused by hyper nova's when a super-massive star implodes. If a gamma ray burst hit earth the atmosphere around earth would get destroyed.
