Re: how do the plate boundaries interact in San francisco
Hi AdaptiveCobra59,
Do you need help researching the answer, because we'd be happy to offer you some advice in that area. In order to find the answer to your question or any research question in general you should look up some background information to help understand the question itself. For example, I would search the types/classifications of boundary interactions and what they look like. Here's an example link that we could use to gather that information (Make sure the websites you use are credible. This one is because it's from a government source ".gov") : http://oceanexplorer.noaa.gov/facts/pla ... aries.html
Now that we know the different types of boundary interactions documented, we can look up specific information. First we could search for images of plate boundaries maps to find plate boundaries in San Francisco. Like this one (check out the blue wording):
Doesn't it look like the San Andreas Fault line goes through San Francisco?
Now it's your turn. Try looking for diagrams of the San Andreas Fault to identify the boundary interactions going on there. Boundary interactions are usually displayed through simple arrow diagrams that you can classify using the first link we found. Good luck!
