The solvent and solution are both being carried to the top of the filter strip. Why has the solution been able to ride all the way up to the top with the solvent?
This is the red known compound.

This seems to be expected. I'm not very familiar with this experiment. Make sure you pay close attention to step 11 in the procedure. You may be letting the solvent front run too long?
