Getting a bang out of breath spray

I was able to construct the project .I must add this project was very cool to construct. The problem that I am having is i am trying to identify the independent and dependent variable, the control and the constant. I believe the constant is the film canister and the igniter because it never changes its form . I also believe the independent variable is the binaca spary . Last i believe the igniter is the control. If I am correct thank . If not please point me in the right direction.

Glad to hear that you had a good time working on this project. It looks like a fun one!

An independent variable is something that you change in order to observe a response in a dependent variable. I agree with you that the independent variable in this project is the Binaca spray. You could change to a different type of spray (several types are suggested in the project procedure) or you could use different amounts of the same spray. Either way, you might expect a different response from your dependent variable if you change the fuel.

The dependent variable in this project is the film canister’s time of flight. The procedure outlines ways to measure the pressure and volume change. These are dependent variables, too.

Controlled variables are factors that could affect your experiment if not held constant. The film canister and igniter are examples of controlled variables in this project.

A control in an experiment is usually a test that is used to confirm that the experiment is working correctly. I don’t think there is a control in this project.
