Hi Stephanie,

A good way to figure out what complicated terms mean is to simply Google them! There are usually many different results that explain what's confusing you in a variety of ways. For example, I searched your experiment and found
1) A Science Buddies page on how to do this experiment that includes lots of background on the physics involved (https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p056.shtml) and...
2) This simple, nice video on the physical concepts and how to do the experiment (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GH5W6xEeY5U).

Hope that helps you get started!
Megan
