Clinical Trials

Post by deleted-339834 »

Hello, I'm a Genetics Student who's finishing his Master Thesis in cancer research.
I would love to follow the clinical trials area however I don't know where to start from, since there is no information for this type of field, and most of my colegues aren't informed about this....

Can someone explain me what I should do, or what should be my next move? because I'm a bit lost...

Hello,
I haven't done any work with a clinical trial before but I have experience with doing research and shadowing in a clinical setting. I would identify a hospital near you, look on their website where they have information about their ongoing clinical trials. You may want to search the website with the mindset as if you were a patient, and then look for the "contact us" portion where there should be an administrative person. He/She will be able to point you in the right direction towards a scientists that could use some help.
Hope this helps.

You can check out https://clinicaltrials.gov/. You can search and learn about clinical trials in different medical areas. I hope this helps in what you are looking for.

Hello,

All of the pieces of advice suggested here are spot on, I just wanted to add too that if you are at an academic medical center, I would recommend reaching out to any physicians that you know. You may be able to get connected to physicians that are running or are part of trials interested in what you are studying. In the oncology field, there are tons of clinical trials going on at any one time at many academic centers. If you don't know any physicians, you can even start with your PI to get any leads on whom you might be able to contact.

Good luck!
