aerodynamics

Hi I am in grade 12 and i was tasked with a practical of the effect of the surface area of a parachute on drop time. The parachute must be carrying an egg.

my parachute design works and i have recorded all my results but the interpretation of the data is what i am struggling with.My teacher was somewhat vague in saying that we have to make certain assumptions to determine what the drag force of the parachute is.We also have to find the effect of the parachute size on acceleration, final velocity, amount of energy lost and the impact force with the ground. obviously with an increase in parachute size the drag force will increase and terminal velocity will be reached at a faster rate. However I am unsure about what assumptions need to be made in order to determine the calculations. When i performed the practical i merely measured the time taken for the parachutes to fall from a constant height.

Any help would be much appreciated

I think this site may help:

You will need the surface area of the parachutes used.
