Where Can I go to use a College Laboratory in East Bay, California?

Post by deleted-376101 »

Hello!

For my science project this year, I am in desperate need of a college laboratory and professor mentor (we are high schoolers). How can I find such resources?

Thank you!

Hi,

Thank you for your question. Gaining access to university-level laboratories can be very difficult to obtain sometimes. What kind of project are you looking to do? Generally, you will just need to contact several professors that have similar research interests as yourself and ask if there is a way that you would be able to perform experiments for your project in their laboratory.

This may take some time, so start early! Not to dissuade you, but university professors are usually quite busy and oftentimes will not respond to such requests. In this case, it is best to contact as many as you can. Also, does your high school teacher have any contacts that may be of use?

Let us know if you have further questions.

Best,
Pharma

Hi,

Would you be able to use equipment and resources at a high school laboratory? It may be easier and quicker to access.
If a college science laboratory is required, check with a science teacher or guidance counselor at your high school to see if they can direct you to a contact in a college science department.
