Alzheimer's for a research project

Post by deleted-407282 »

I live in a home with a relative diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He is a diabetic, takes many pills, and would, in my opinion, be an AMAZING resource if I decided to base an extensive research project on the disease. Is this idea good enough for a competition as prestigious as the Intel Science Talent Search? I realize many are already working towards cures and treatments as it is becoming a leading cause of death (Population aging is why), and that is why I need some advice. Could this be a substantial, impressive entry?

What is your research idea? The first obstacle that comes to mind, before even knowing what your project will be, is to determine if you need to follow rules of using human subjects. Here's a guide that I found on science buddies. There may be other laws or rules in place, regarding this type of human research project, that you might have to keep in mind if you go forth with your specific project idea.
